Gürhan Özkayar received his B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Biomedical Engineering (with full scholarship) from Başkent University Ankara, Turkey, in 2009 and his M.S. (Hons.) degree in Biomedical Engineering from Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey, in 2015. He is currently a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at METU. He worked as a Modality Specialist for Operating Room and ICU Medical Devices in Alpler Medikal ve Sağlık Ticaret Ltd. Şti., Ankara, Turkey, between 2010 and 2011. In 2011, he joined to Turkish Armed Forces and worked as a Third Lieutenant in Gülhane Military Medical Academy, Ankara, Turkey. After completing his military service, he worked as a Research Assistant at METU, between 2013 and 2015. In 2015, he joined to Mikro Biyosistemler Elektronik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. He specialized in BioMEMS, microfluidics, and microfabrication. He studied cancer cell enrichment from blood and his current research focuses on the development of microfluidic technologies for cancer cell separation.
